Taoqihe Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Jiayin Basin. The name of Taoqihe Formation was given by Zhong Weicheng and Yang Yu (1964) in Taoqihe of Gongzheng Village, Binxian. The type locality is the Gongzheng section of Binxian, Heilongjiang.
Lithology and Thickness
The Taoqihe Formation is a group of conglomerate, sandy conglomerate. To the top, it becomes sandstone, siltstone intercalated with thin bedded conglomerate, tuff and coal beds. The thickness is over 1917 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It conformably overlies the Ganhe Fm according to Jiayin Basin stratigraphy column of D.P. Xi et al, 2019, Cenozoic chapter of China Integrated Stratigraphy and Timescale). [However, the Jiayin basin column of Jingeng Sha in Kosenko et al (2021) does not show a Ganhe Fm, but show a conformable contact onto a volcanic Fuminhe Fm, with a tuff-rich Yongqing Fm below, then a Wuying Gr.]
Upper contact
It conformably unconformably underlies the Yongancun Fm.
Regional extent
The Taoqihe Formation is distributed in the Binxian and Jiayin area of Heilongjiang.
